8M-1515-000 is an upgraded intermediate gearbox forming part of the modified tail transmission (AMTT) for Mi-8MTV, Mi-8AMT, Mi-17, Mi-171 and related helicopter variants. The unit replaces the standard intermediate gearbox 8A-1515-000 and is fully interchangeable under approved bulletins. The upgraded design incorporates ground gear tooth profiles, increasing bending strength by 1.72 times and contact strength by 1.35 times compared to the legacy unit. Heavy-duty bearings significantly extend durability, increasing bearing life by up to 3.74 times. The gearbox supports increased transmission power up to 1050 hp and is approved for operation across a wide temperature and climatic range.
