AT-8-3 Automatic Transformer (Windshield Anti-Icing System)

AT-8-3 is an automatic transformer used in the windshield anti-icing system of Mi-8, Mi-17 and Mi-171 helicopters. The unit supplies electrical power to the heating elements of the pilot and co-pilot windshields and operates together with TER-1M temperature regulators and TD-2 temperature probes to maintain windshield temperature at approximately 30 °C. The transformer supports both automatic activation from the ice detector system and manual control of windshield heating. AT-8-3 is installed on frame No. 1 above the cockpit door aperture.
