SAFIR 5 K/G-MIS Auxiliary Power Unit (APU)

SAFIR 5 K/G-MIS is a compact auxiliary power unit engineered for integration into Mi-8, Mi-17 and Mi-171 helicopter platforms requiring reliable pneumatic and electrical ground and in-flight support capability. The unit delivers up to 35 kW rated shaft power and 28.3 kg/min bleed airflow under ISA conditions, supporting engine start, environmental control and onboard auxiliary systems. The integrated 28V starter-generator provides 5.6 kW rated output at 12,000 rpm and up to 8 kW maximum electrical power. Turbine idle speed is 49,074 rpm with start-up speed reaching 51,000 rpm. Air bleed temperature operates between 160–180 °C with maximum exhaust temperature up to 680 °C. Operational limits include altitude capability up to 6,000 m and ambient temperature range from -55 °C to +55 °C. The unit incorporates: – Fully integrated fuel and oil systems – Electronic control with automatic start/stop logic – Overspeed, overtemperature and low oil pressure protection – Surge-bleed valve and environmental fuel drain system – Optional 4 kW hydraulic pump drive Unit weight is approximately 45 kg without starter-generator and 61 kg fully equipped. SAFIR 5 K/G-MIS is suitable for fleet modernization programs, retrofit upgrades and replacement projects on Mi-8/Mi-17/Mi-171 helicopters.
